USA’s Burn Notice, Psych and Monk Maintain High Ratings
USA Network is riding high this week, broadcasting seven of the nation’s ten most-watched television programs for the week ending on February 8. Nielsen Media’s ratings indicate that USA averaged 3.35 million viewers last week, drawing massive audiences with its various original series (Burn Notice, Monk and Psych).
Friday night’s episode of Monk attracted 5.68 million viewers during its 9 p.m. time slot. This high volume of viewership secured Monk as ad-supported cable’s most-watched weekly program. Monk wasn’t USA’s only series to deliver. On Thursday, Burn Notice drew 5.27 million viewers (with the highest concentration of adults 25-54, 2.71 million) during its 10 p.m. time slot. Rounding out the triad, Psych attracted 4.46 million viewers during its 10 p.m. slot following Monk.
With an average audience of 5.31 million viewers on February 2, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., was USA Network’s WWE Raw. Dual NCIS reruns delivered 4.47 million viewers on Monday and 4.32 million viewers on Thursday.
The week’s second place network, TNT, averaged 2.56 million total viewers. Among 25-54 year-olds (1.26 million) and 18-49 year-olds, the network also placed second. The Closer, TNT’s powerhouse series, averaged 5.37 million viewers on February 2, and nearly half (2.14 million) were members of the show’s core demographic 25-54 year-olds.
TNT’s coverage of the Lakers-Celtics game delivered 4.31 million viewers, including 2.38 million 28-49 year-olds and 2.35 million 25-54 year-olds.
In third place was Fox News Channel with 2.43 million viewers, which persistently drew big audiences on weeknights at 8 p.m. The network’s The O’Reilly Factor served up 4.08 million viewers on Thursday evening, causing the program to rank 14th among ad-supported cable programs.
In fourth place TBS averaged 1.78 million viewers, but reclaimed the lead among 18-34 year-olds. The network also placed third among 18-49 year-old viewers (1.11 million).
