Cable TV Ratings - 5/10/09

For the week ending on May 10, the NBA playoffs dominated Nielsen Media's Top 20 Cable TV ratings. Rockets/Lakers battles filled positions No. 2 through No. 4, with Nickelodeon's iCarly movie taking the top spot! In fifth place was the Celtics/Magic showdown. In total, eight of the top 20 positions were filled with NBA playoff coverage.

According to Nielsen Media, cable TV ratings for the week ending on May 10 were as follows:

Despite Yao Ming's absence, the Houston Rockets managed to pull a victory during the Rockets/Lakers showdown. Shane Battier scored five three-pointers, and Aaron Brooks scored a career-high of 34 points. The final score was close, with Houston beating Los Angeles 99-87.

"I think everyone but us got the memo that we weren't supposed to show up today without Yao," Battier said. "I am not surprised," he said. "It almost sounds cliché, but we're a resilient group. We talk about bouncing back. Through adversity, through lineup changes, through trades, through injuries, we've never quit and we've never stopped believing."

This year marks Brooks' second NBA season. He has since become the Rocket's starting point guard, when Houston sent Rafer Alston to Orlando.
