Nielsen Top Cable TV Show Ratings, Week Ending March 29

For the week ending on March 29, USA and Nickelodeon led the rankings, occupying 18 of the top 20 positions. Including the week’s no. 1 broadcast, the 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA), Nickelodeon filled 12 spots. Thanks to WWE Entertainment and NCIS, USA filled six positions.

The only programs to place in the top 20 that were not broadcast by Nickelodeon or USA were ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8.

According to Nielsen Media, cable TV ratings for the week ending on March 29 were as follows:

This week’s no. 1 program, the 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards, attracted a record 7.7 million viewers. This star-studded, slime-filled ceremony delivered its highest rankings ever among children (11/3.8 million aged 2-11, and 14.2/3 million aged 6-11) and tweens (13.7/2.9 million among 9-14 year-olds). In addition, 2009 marks the fourth consecutive year of viewer growth for the KCA. Fans cast a record 91 million votes.

Among the celebrities to appear at the Kids’ Choice Awards were Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paula Abdul, Zac Efron, Miley Cyrus, Shia LaBeouf, Queen Latifah, Emma Roberts, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, and George Lopez.

Following The 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards, Nickelodeon premiered its new series, The Penguins of Madagascar. The show’s debut broke records, delivering 6.1 million viewers for the no. 2 position.
